Stockholm’s post-punk/darkwave band A PROJECTION release their new single “Darwin’s Eden.” The track begins with a nice razor-ish bassline into a 80s synthwave style lush intro delivery. Alongside the single also comes the music video for the track of the same name. The “Darwin’s Eden” single was released today on all digital and streaming formats.
A PROJECTION seems to be ushering in a new sound and direction; moving more to the electronic realm. If the rest of the upcoming release is similar to this single, it’ll push this post-punk act more into the synthwave end of the spectrum, which seems to be the contemporary electronic sound these days.
The “Darwin’s Eden” video—directed by Nicklas Lindahl, who has previously worked with artists such as Kite, Nicole Sabouné and Ghost—was filmed in Mid-December of 2020 in an old Swedish church, called Seglora Church, in Skansen and in an old biological museum called Gothenburg’s Natural History Museum. The museum is filled with antique taxidermy and is located on a hill inside Slottsskogen (Swedish: [ˈslɔ̂tːˌskuːɡɛn], “Castle Forest”) in central Gothenburg. Both of these locations were apparently closed to the public due to the Covid-19 pandemic, adding to the feeling of desolation.

A PROJECTION is known for their powerful and energetic live shows and their sound has been described as “a danceable mixture of post punk and electronica, with both depth and edge”.
Having released three full-length albums, the band has so far stayed rather firmly rooted in the post-punk genre. Let’s see what this new album brings us.
