Industrial Island’s Mission Statement

We don’t “release doves”, we don’t “start lawn mowers”, and we give stomping a rest for a while.

Industrial Island’s Origin Story

began in a basement on a historical street in Staten Island. I, Michael J. Carrasquillo (the host), was repairing a neighbor’s water heater—who has been ill and recently underwent surgery. Upon my descent into water heater repair hell I was met with questions from my neighbor, and owner of Staten Island Makerspace…Scott Van Campen, on the other side of the fence. Slick Idiot - Circa 2002
Scott mentioned that he’d seen me in a band photo, on Facebook, in all Goth/industrial attire alongside former KMFDM members Guenter Schulz and En Esch. He asked if that was in fact me. I responded with, “Yes, yes that’s me.” His reply was, “No shit!? I love(d) KMFDM. I guess I didn’t know everything about you then. So, when are you doing a show at Maker Park Radio?” The photo was of me with Slick Idiot, an offshoot of KMFDM…but anyway, I told Scott I could possibly make that happen and from that moment I was fast tracked into the Maker Park Radio lineup…with a station manager who worked with a bunch of the WaxTrax! catalogue herself, as a road tech and manager.

…and that is how Industrial Island was born!
